LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Portland senior Julie Spencer scored a game-high 22 points, but the San Francisco Dons pulled out a 76-69 victory Thursday afternoon in the first round of the West Coast Conference Championships at the Orleans Arena.
The Pilots (13-17) led at the end of each of the first three quarters, but the Dons (7-23) got hot late in the fourth quarter as Portland went cold. San Francisco outscored the Pilots 29-20 in the final period. Neither team led by double digits in a game that featured 11 ties and eight lead changes.
Portland senior Darian Slaga drilled a three-pointer with 2:18 remaining to tie the game at 67-67, but Portland would go scoreless over the next two minutes as San Francisco steadily pulled away.
