PORTLAND, Ore. – University of Portland women's soccer player Sophie French has signed with Portland Thorns FC as a National Team Replacement Player, the club announced on Thursday.
National Team Replacement players are players who sign with a club when NWSL players are away on international duty. They do not count against the team's roster limit.
French played the last two seasons with the Pilots, making 27 appearances (11 starts). She played in every possible match in her two seasons for the Pilots, including all 17 with five starts this past year for Portland. She scored one goal, doing so in a 3-0 win over North Dakota.
