Los Angeles Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani underwent a procedure Tuesday in Los Angeles to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, according to a statement from his agent, Nez Balelo.
He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to "hit without any restrictions come opening day of 2024 and do both (Hit & Pitch) come 2025," said Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who performed the procedure.
ElAttrache said the ultimate plan for the procedure "was to repair the issue at hand and to reinforce the healthy ligament in place while adding viable tissue for the longevity of the elbow.
