NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Portland women's soccer opened the 2023 regular season by shutting out CSUN 1-0 on Thursday night at Matador Soccer Field. The Pilots controlled the match from start-to-finish as senior striker Nedya Sawan tallied the game-winner early in the first half and Portland would not allow a shot on goal through regulation.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Portland scored first in the 13th minute when Sawan took a couple touches into the center of the box and drilled a right-footed shot into the left side netting for an unassisted goal.
GAME NOTES
- Sawan's goal was the 20th of her career as she became the 31st Pilot to score 20 or more goals.
