AUSTIN, Texas --- Portland's Taryn Rawlings closed out an exceptional career for the Pilots on Saturday with a ninth-place finish in the 1500m at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Battling tough weather conditions, including a track surface temperature above 100 degrees, Rawlings completed the race in a time of 4:15.03, just missing a podium finish.
"This wasn't what Taryn wanted today, but she has had an amazing season and college career," said Portland head coach Ian Solof. "She has a bright future ahead of her and I know she has a lot more to accomplish.
