PORTLAND, Ore. -- In a game that featured an hour and a half rain delay, the Portland Pilots fell to the Utah Valley Wolverines 4-1 in the series opener.
Joey Gartrell (1-1) got the start for Portland (5-3) and took the loss. Sophomore Jacob Dobmeier was a bright spot for the Pilots, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two scoreless innings, allowing two hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
Nich Klemp led the way offensively for the Pilots, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a double. Jake Tsukada furnished a standout effort as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
