PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots baseball program hosted the 2016 Diamond Dinner on Saturday night at the Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center as part of opening weekend on The Bluff. Portland's annual baseball event featured a reception, a silent auction, a live auction, dinner and guest speaker Alan Embree.

Embree, a northwest native who spent 17 years in Major League Baseball, played for 10 different teams, winning a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2004. Embree, a lefty, recorded the final out against the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the 2004 ALCS and the Red Sox would go on to win their first World Series since 1918.
