Pilots Split Doubleheader Against Creighton to Open Series

GAME 1 | Creighton 5, Portland 2

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Pilots came up just short in the first game of their home-opening doubleheader on Friday, falling to the Creighton Bluejays 5-2.

Carter Gaston (0-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Portland (1-4). The right-hander went six innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out seven. Nolan Umlandt was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three innings, surrendering one run on one hit, walking two and striking out one.

Offensively, the Pilots were led byf Brady Bean, who went 1-for-3 on the day with two walks and an RBI.
