MORAGA, Calif. --- Portland senior Kate Andersen led a balanced scoring attack with a team-high 16 points and the Pilots pulled away in the second half to win 72-53 over the Saint Mary's Gaels in a West Coast Conference women's basketball game played on Thursday night at McKeon Pavilion. Haylee Andrews and Alex Fowler each scored 13 points for Portland.
After the Pilots (14-9, 7-5 WCC) led by 10 at halftime, the Gaels (10-13, 5-7 WCC) began the third quarter by cutting the deficit to just four points. Portland responded with six straight points on a pair of buckets from Lauren Walker and another from Fowler.
