SEATTLE, Wash. --- Portland's varsity eight crew led the way for the Pilots with a solid time in their event at the Husky Open on Saturday morning on the Montlake Cut. The varsity eight was one of four Portland boats to race in the Emerald City.
UP's varsity eight, which was coxed by Miranda Reyes and had Veronica Nicacio rowing stroke, covered the course with the day's second fastest time among collegiate crews, posting a time of 6:45.390. Only the host and fourth-ranked Washington Huskies were faster, finishing on top of the field with a mark of 6:42.
