SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Portland overcame a 10-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation to force overtime, but Santa Clara held on for a 69-63 victory in West Coast Conference men's basketball action Saturday night at the Leavey Center.
Down 54-44 with 1:41 left in regulation, Josh McSwiggan and JoJo Walker hit consecutive three-pointers and the Pilots (7-17, 0-9 WCC) benefitted from some Santa Clara turnovers and missed free throws.
Marcus Shaver Jr. then hit a tough three to make it a 56-53 deficit with 20 seconds left. Santa Clara missed the front end of a one-and-one and Shaver Jr.
