HILLSBORO, Ore. --- With the Pilots trailing by one and down to their final out, Caleb Whalen came through with a double to the right-center gap, but CSUN sent a perfect relay throw to home plate to just get Michael Forgione and seal a 2-1 win for the Matadors at Ron Tonkin Field on Friday night. Forgione had previously kept the inning going with a two-out, infield single.
The dramatic finish gives CSUN's (20-4) Kenny Rosenberg the complete-game win, as the lefty starter was masterful on the mound.
The Pilots (12-11) got on the board first in the bottom of the second after Cooper Hummel led off the inning with a line drive single to right field.
