WESTWOOD, Calif. --- The Portland Pilots lost in four sets at the Wooden Center on Saturday afternoon, losing a competitive match against the Pepperdine Waves. The Pilots fell to set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 17-25, and 23-25.
Juniors Izzy Guzik and Shayla Hoeft led the Pilots in kills, with both players having 14. Junior Cali Thompson had a double-double with 47 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore libero Carey Williams had 17 digs and six assists.
Pepperdine began the match by going on an 11-4 run, forcing the Pilots to take an early timeout. It took time for the Pilots to reassert themselves in the first set, but would rally late by going on a 6-1 featuring three straight kills by Guzik to make it a one-point set at 23-24.
