Pilots Knock Off #67 Pacific at WCC Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Portland Pilots pulled out a 4-2 victory against the No. 67 Pacific Tigers to open the 2016 West Coast Conference Championships Thursday afternoon at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

Playing a singles lineup of four sophomores and two freshmen, the Pilots (16-7) competed beyond their years to reach the WCC Championships semifinals for the eighth time in program history and first time since the league expanded to 10 teams.

With final exams taking place this week on the UP campus, the team had a condensed week to take care of business in the classroom and then turned the focus to postseason play.
