PORTLAND, Ore. – The University of Portland men's basketball team held their first official practice of the summer on Tuesday. It marked the first practice since new head coach Shantay Legans took over the program back in March.
Legans was named head coach of the Pilots back in March after spending the past 12 seasons as a coach at Eastern Washington and the past four as head coach of the Eagles. Legans led the Eagles to a Big Sky regular season championship in the 2019-20 season and to the NCAA Tournament in the 2020-21 season. He also earned Big Sky Coach of the Year honors for the 2019-20 season and left Eastern Washington with the best conference winning percentage (.
