SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Portland women's tennis doubles team of Iva Zelic and Sally Pethybridge had their phenomenal fall season come to an end on Thursday with a loss in the Round of 16 at the ITA Fall National Championships held at the Barnes Tennis Center.
The Pilot tandem dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to the top-seeded and No. 6-ranked pair from conference rival Pepperdine, Janice Tjen and Savannah Broadus.
Zelic and Pethybridge beat Kentucky's Carlota Molina and Elizabeth Stevens 6-4, 7-6 (3) in the Round of 32 on Wednesday and close the fall campaign with a 12-5 record against top competition.
