Pilots Drop Series Opener 6-2 to BYU

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Pilots (12-5, 0-1 WCC) dropped their first WCC game of the season against the BYU Cougars (10-5, 1-0 WCC), falling 6-2.

Caleb Franzen took the loss after giving up four runs in five innings of work. He did, however, strike out 10 batters, which matches the season high for any Pilot this season. It's also a career high for Franzen. Jack Sterner took the win for BYU.

Ben Patacsil and Sam Brown were the only batters to record multiple hits on the day.
