HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The Portland men's basketball team dropped an 82-64 decision to the Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors on Friday night in day one of the Rainbow Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center. Sophomore point guard Marcus Shaver Jr. led the Pilots (1-1) with 19 points.
Sophomore Tahirou Diabate added 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench, while redshirt junior Josh McSwiggan finished with 11 points.
Zigmars Raimo led five Rainbow Warriors (1-0) in double figures with 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Portland trailed by just two at the half, but the Rainbow Warriors capitalized on five early turnovers in the second half during a 17-3 run for a 53-37 lead.
