PROVO, Utah – In a pitcher's duel that ended with a walk-off single in the ninth inning, the Portland Pilots fell to the BYU Cougars 1-0 in Provo. The loss drops Portland to 15-14 on the season and 7-4 in WCC play.
Peter Allegro was tagged with the loss after walking the leadoff batter in the ninth. Eli Morse came on in relief and after a fielding error put runners on first and second, Jacob Wilk provided the winning hit off the left field wall. Despite the late inning loss, Portland's pitching staff was excellent. Christian Peters and Allegro allowed no runs and only two hits through the first eight innings.
