PORTLAND, Ore. – Sophomore guard Marcus Shaver Jr. scored a game-high 24 points as Portland jumped out early and never looked back in a 94-64 victory over Antelope Valley in a men's basketball exhibition game Saturday night at the Chiles Center. It was a homecoming for all-time Pilot great, Darwin Cook, who is in his second season as head coach of the Pioneers.
Cook, a Portland Hall of Famer who went on to an eight-year NBA career, was honored prior to tip-off and presented with a commemorative framed photograph by current Portland head coach Terry Porter. Many of his former teammates and UP alumni were in attendance for his return.
