SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Nich Klemp collected three extra base hits to help lead the Portland Pilots over the San Diego Toreros 9-5 on Saturday. The win clinched the series for Portland.
Peter Allegro (4-3) got the win for Portland (19-15, 9-5). The right-hander went 7.1 innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on six hits, allowing three walks and striking out five. Kaden Segel also pitched well, going one shutout inning in the ninth while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.
Klemp's three extra base hits were the highlight of a 3-for-4 day, and included two doubles, a home run and an RBI.
