PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Portland Pilots rowing team raced to three-first place finishes as they opened the fall season Sunday morning at the American Fall Classic in Lakewood, Wash. Portland's varsity eight, second eight, and varsity four 'A' all won their respective event on American Lake.
The regatta was a head race, covering a 5,000-meter course.
The varsity eight cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 19:09.6, which was well ahead of Seattle Pacific (19:51.8). The varsity eight was coxed by Miranda Reyes with Lauren Jesse rowing stroke. Reyes and Jesse also helped lead Portland's varsity four boat to the top of the standings in that event as well.
