VANCOUVER LAKE, Wash. --- Portland's second eight and varsity four both finished first in their events as the Pilots battled conference foe Saint Mary's and Seattle U at the UP Invite, which took place on Saturday morning on Vancouver Lake.
The varsity eights began the day, and Saint Mary's edged the Pilots by just two seconds. The Gaels posted a time of 7:37.61, while the Pilots covered the course in 7:39.02, which was well ahead of the Redhawks in third. Miranda Reyes was the coxswain for Portland's varsity eight, and Lauren Jesse was rowing stroke.
The Pilots' second eight cruised to a first-place finish ahead of the Gaels.
