PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland women's tennis team defeated Illinois State by a 5-2 margin Thursday at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center. The Pilots improve to 4-7 overall, while the Redbirds drop to 9-6 with the loss.
The top of Portland's singles lineup stayed hot as freshman Lourdes Ramalle won her fifth consecutive match with a 6-2, 7-6 (8) victory over Estelle Vanthier at the No. 3 position.
Junior Radina Dimitrova won a hard-fought three-setter against Jana Kustkova at No. 2 singles 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 for her fourth straight win, while junior Jelena Lukic overcame a first set loss to pull out the win against Veronika Golanova at the top of the lineup.
