SEATTLE, Wash. – Portland took the doubles point and pushed Washington with a lot of close singles matches, but the Huskies held on for a 6-1 win in non-conference men's tennis action Friday night at Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.
The Pilots (4-2) grabbed the early lead with wins at the top two doubles positions. Sema Pankin and Nikolas Tvedt combined for a comfortable 6-1 win against Thibault Cancel and Clement Chidekh at No. 2 doubles. Issa Yoshida and Eleftherios Neos then clinched in a tiebreaker win against Alexis Alvarez and Jack Davis.
Washington would bounce back to win all six singles points, but the Pilots didn't make it easy.
