Pankin defeated Ryan Torres of UC Davis in the opening round and then knocked off Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja in the Round of 16, both in straight sets. He will face Ran Amar of Pacific in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Eleftherios Neos won his opening round singles match over Nevada's Matheo Coupu 6-3, 7-6, before falling to No. 74 Joshua Charlton of Oregon in the second round.
"I don't think we got style points today, but we did a good job winning three of our four matches," Portland head coach Aaron Gross said.
