PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland's Cody Hawken left the yard with a two-run home run, but the Northwestern Wildcats prevailed 9-5 on Saturday afternoon to claim the three-game non-conference series at Joe Etzel Field. Saturday's game was shortened to seven innings due to Northwestern's travel plans.
The Wildcats (4-10) jumped ahead with a run in the top of the second, but the Pilots (2-11) answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to surge in front. Both runs were unearned as a handful of walks, an error and a passed ball contributed, and Justin Thaxton and Kevin Wade crossed the plate for Portland.
