MALIBU, Calif. – The No. 9 Pepperdine Waves cruised to a 4-0 win over Portland in West Coast Conference women's tennis action Saturday at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Pilots fall to 7-9 overall and 2-4 in West Coast Conference play, while the Waves improve to 14-3 and 5-0 in league.
Perennial contender Pepperdine featured a lineup with two nationally-ranked singles players and the No. 24 doubles tandem in the country.
Portland juniors Anna Oberg and Jelena Lukic pushed the ranked duo of Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine at No. 1 doubles and were trailing 5-4 when the Waves clinched with wins at the other two positions.
