FULLERTON, Ore. – Portland traded leads seven times in the first half with No. 14 UCLA, but the Bruins erupted in the second half to pull away for a 99-77 victory Thursday night in the first round of the Wooden Legacy at Titan Gym. Portland sophomore guard Jazz Johnson scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Pilots.
Portland will now face the Dayton Flyers (2-2) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. as the tournament continues and then concludes on Sunday at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
The Pilots (3-1) came out ready for the challenge as the teams traded seven leads and were tied twice in the first half.
