INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Portland's Max Mackinnon has been named an Oscar Robertson Men's Basketball National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the group announced on Tuesday.
Mackinnon is one of five national honorees, along with Mekhi Conner (Sacred Heart), Dawson Garcia (Minnesota), Bo Montgomery (UNCW) and Milos Uzan (Houston). The USBWA men's basketball awards are chosen from weekly conference honors.
Mackinnon tied the University of Portland single-game scoring record and put up the most points by any WCC player in a game this season when he erupted for 43 points in the Pilots' 92-82 win against San Diego on Thursday.
