SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following his historic scoring performance Portland guard Max Mackinnon garnered Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors and teammate Austin Rapp earned his third WCC Freshman of the Week award, the league office announced on Monday.
Mackinnon tied the University of Portland single-game scoring record and put up the most points by any WCC player in a game this season when he erupted for 43 points in the Pilots' 92-82 win against San Diego on Thursday. He tied the previous school record set by Matt Houle in 1992. It was the fifth highest single-game scoring output all-time by an Australian player at the NCAA Division I level and is the most by a WCC player since Santa Clara's Jared Brownridge scored 44 vs.
