PORTLAND, Ore. – LMU overcame the Portland Pilots volleyball team in three sets, Thursday evening in the Chiles Center. The Pilots fought through close sets against the Lions with set scores of 21-25, 23-25, and 17-25.
Battling back and forth to start the first set, Portland (12-5, 3-2) took the initial 11-7 lead with back-to-back kills from senior Sarah Savoca, along with kills from senior Hannah Troutman and junior Reghan Pukis. The Lions (10-6, 3-2) fought back to level the score 20-20, pushing for a late comeback. In the final points of the set, Sara Kovac and Alexis Morrow recorded crucial kills for LMU to complete the comeback and take set 25-21.
