LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- Freshman Sophia Mattice scored her first career goal and the Pilots took Loyola Marymount to overtime, but the Lions scored the game-winner in the 95th minute to claim a 2-1 win over the Pilots in a West Coast Conference women's soccer game played on Saturday night at Sullivan Field. The match was originally scheduled to be played at Merlo Field, but it was moved south due to recent inclement weather in Portland.
With the game scoreless in the 64th minute, the Pilots (1-1-0, 0-1 WCC) earned a corner kick. After MJ Roe sent in the corner, the ball took multiple deflections inside the area before Mattice got a foot on it and buried it into the back of the net to hand the visiting side the 1-nil edge.
