Late Surge not Enough, Pilots Fall 5-4 to No. 20 Ducks

PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite scoring four runs in the seventh and eighth innings, the Portland Pilots (20-15) came up just short against the No. 20 Oregon Ducks (25-11) 5-4 at Joe Etzel Field. The Ducks officially sweep the season series.

KJ Ruffo took the loss for the Pilots, his first of the season. Five different pitchers in total saw the mound for Portland, with Eli Morse being the most effective. He went two innings with two strikeouts and only one hit allowed in the third and fourth.

Portland had four runs off six hits. Jake Tsukada had half of those hits, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
