SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland junior midfielder Larkin Russell, who helped the Pilots win the 2018 Nike Invitational, is the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Russell collected two assists and a game-winner as the Pilots picked up a pair of wins at Merlo Field.
During Friday's 2-1 win over Utah Valley, Russell set up a goal by Rachel Khaw, which at the time leveled the score in the 69th minute. Russell played a perfectly timed through ball to Khaw, before assisting on the game-winner moments later. This time she pressured the center back and stripped the ball at the top of the 18, took a touch wide to avoid the UVU keeper, andfound an unmarked Taryn Ries in front of the goal.
