PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior middle blocker Shayla Hoeft is the West Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, after she helped lead the Portland Pilots to an undefeated opening weekend and the 2018 Aztec Invitational title.
Hoeft was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after the Pilots clinched all three matches, including a sweep over CSU Bakersfield and Campbell, and a 3-1 victory over tournament host San Diego State. Hoeft led the Pilots in kills (38), kills per set (3.8), hitting percentage amongst starters (.457) and tied for the team lead in blocks (10).
Hoeft had ten kills in each match, including coming up clutch and having her best performance during the Pilots toughest match against San Diego State.
