PORTLAND, Ore.---The Pilots put on a dominating offensive display, outshooting Saint Mary's 10 to four in a West Coast Conference women's soccer match held at Merlo Field on Saturday afternoon, but in the end it was the Gaels just escaping with a 1-0 win on the day.
Eight different Pilots each had a chance to find the back of the net during the game, although none would find the equalizer to Saint Mary's opening score—which marks the first goal that Portland has conceded in over 520 consecutive minutes of play in their last six matches.
The Portland defense continued to keep the pressure on the Gaels' offensive front throughout, holding the visiting side to only four total shots after 90 minutes.
