SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Briley Knight and Jake Holcroft each collected three RBI's to help power the Portland Pilots past the San Diego Toreros 8-7 on Friday.
Joey Gartrell (4-2) started on the mound and picked up the win for Portland (18-15, 8-5). The right-hander went five innings, giving up six runs, all of them earned, on eight hits, allowing two walks and striking out two. Jacob Dobmeier also made an impact on the mound for the Pilots, throwing four shutout innings while allowing one hit, with no walks and one strikeout, earning the save.
Holcroft went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and a home run in addition to his three RBI's and Knight put together a 2-for-3 day with a home run and two walks, supplementing his three-RBI performance for the Pilots.
