PORTLAND, Ore. --- Portland senior pitcher Chris Clements is a semifinalist for the Pitcher of the Year, it was announced on Wednesday by the College Baseball Foundation. Clements is 7-1 this season with a 1.69 ERA.
The award, sponsored by Diamond, will be presented later this summer by the CBF.
Clements has been masterful this year, recording a pair of complete-game wins. During his shutout against Northern Colorado, Clements struck out 13, and in 9.0 innings last Sunday against Pepperdine he allowed only three hits, while fanning nine. Clements has been named the West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week three times this season, and he ranks eighth nationally in WHIP (0.
