PORTLAND, Ore. --- The Pilots limited the Lions to just three hits and Brett Gillis and Henry Cheney hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the sixth inning as Portland topped Loyola Marymount 5-3 in the West Coast Conference series finale played on Sunday afternoon at Joe Etzel Field. Portland starter Chris Clements struck out six in 8.0 innings to earn the win.
Gillis' home run, which is the first in the freshman's career, came with the Pilots (17-11, 2-7 WCC) trailing 3-2. On a 2-1 count and two outs, Gillis hammered a line drive that left the field in a hurry and leveled the score.
