Budnick Goes Yard, but Rebels Overcome Pilots 5-1 at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Tate Budnick gave Portland the lead with his second homer of the season, but the UNLV Rebels answered with five unanswered runs to overcome the Pilots 5-1 in a non-conference baseball game played on Tuesday night at Joe Etzel Field. Only two of UNLV's five runs were earned.

After five innings of scoreless baseball, Budnick left the yard with a solo shot to left field to begin the top of the fifth inning. Budnick, who usually pitches or catches for the Pilots, started his first game of the year at second base.

At the time it seemed the lead might hold as Portland (8-31-1) starter Corbin Powers was in control.
