CORK CITY, Ireland --- Earlier today, senior Reid Buchanan competed in the 3000 meter at the Cork City International in Ireland, setting a new school record with an impressive time of 7:52:49. The previous program record of 7:58 was held by Oliver Witz, which was recorded in 1996.

This meet was comprised of world-ranked athletes, representing more than 30 countries, and competitors included World and Olympic medalists. Buchanan out-kicked two-time Australian Olympian Collis Birmingham by one second to finish on top of the elite field.

"It's great for Reid to leave with a school record," Portland head coach Rob Conner said.
