PORTLAND, Ore. – Santa Clara scored the game's final five runs to pull out a 7-4 victory over Portland in West Coast Conference baseball action Saturday night at Joe Etzel Field. The weekend series is now tied and sets up a Sunday afternoon rubber match.
Jacob Steffens (2-3) tossed a complete game for the Broncos (6-20, 2-3 WCC) and struck out 11 batters. All four runs allowed were in the third inning, but he was able to scatter eight hits and three walks while allowing three earned runs and throwing 142 pitches.
Kevin Wade and Beau Brundage each went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Pilots and Wade knocked in two runs.
