Ayayi Triple-Double Powers No. 1 Gonzaga Past Pilots

PORTLAND, Ore. – Joel Ayayi recorded the first triple-double in Gonzaga history and the No. 1-ranked Bulldogs cruised to a 116-88 victory over Portland Saturday night at the Chiles Center.

Ayayi finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists in just 28 minutes of action. Drew Timme and Anton Watson added 26 and 23 points for Gonzaga, respectively.

The Pilots (6-5, 0-2 WCC) matched their season high in points as well as assists (16) – and drilled a team-best 13 three-pointers – but Portland had no answer defensively against the nation's best offense.

The Bulldogs (12-0, 3-0) shot a remarkable 63 percent from the field and dominated inside with an 80-26 margin in points in the paint.
