BOZEMAN, Mont.---The Pilots produced some good spells of play, but eventually Utah State was able to hold Portland off by a 3-0 margin in game one of the Bobcat Classic at Shroyer Gymnasium on Friday morning. The Aggies collected the win with set scores of 25-19, 27-25, and 25-18.
Outside hitter Ryann Gregg produced a team-high 10 kills in the match, graduate setter Paloma Bowman provided 19 assists, and junior Grace Zilbert came up with 10 digs for the Pilots defense.
Attacks from Jiana Lawson, Bowman, and Gregg handed the Pilots (2-2, 0-0 WCC) a 4-3 lead to open the match, but Utah State (3-1, 0-0 MW) managed to gain the advantage soon after by scoring three unanswered.
