Poker star Daniel Negreanu is a leading advocate for potential NHL expansion to Las Vegas. The 40-year-old has been more vocal in recent weeks about the potential for having a professional sports team in town, telling The Hockey Writers, "There are 2.2 million people in Las Vegas starving for a professional sports team. The base is there. Sure there is no hockey culture in Las Vegas at the moment, but wasn’t that true of thriving franchises like the San Jose Sharks?"
While Negreanu is making his push to have a franchise created in his home city, his involvement in the ownership of a team would be restricted to a minority level.
