On Friday, July 8, 2016, Natasha Barbour entered the final day of play in the 2016 World Series of Poker $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em third in chips amongst the final six competitors. She then worked her way to a third-place finish worth a career-best $348,374. While the money was certainly nice, it was the shocking surprise that came after her elimination that left her shedding tears of joy.
Immediately after her fell to the of eventual winner Yue Du, Barbour's boyfriend, five-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Jason Mercier, hopped over the rail and made his way over to offer a comforting hug.
