The latest 49ers rumors & news are stemming from NFL training camp as Niners camp is in full motion & San Francisco is gearing up for NFL preseason. The 49ers have some tough decisions to make in terms of who will make the 49ers’ final 53-man roster, which brings us to break down 5 potential players who could be cut during 49ers training camp, including C.J. Beathard, Malcolm Smith, Garrett Celek, Kendrick Bourne & Adrian Colbert. C.J. Beathard is competing with Nick Mullens for the backup QB job behind Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G went down with an ACL injury last season & Beathard took over for him as the starting QB, but was eventually replaced by Nick Mullens, who out performed Beathard on the field. Which of these QBs will win the backup QB job & will the odd-man-out be cut from the 49ers final roster? Also, Malcolm Smith started last season as the starting OLB but was eventually benched due to his poor performance on the turf. The 49ers drafted Dre Greenlaw in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL draft & Greenlaw could very well give Smith a run for his money on the 49ers depth chart. Can Malcolm Smith find a way to keep his roster spot & make the 49ers roster? Will Dre Greenlaw emerge as a starter & give the 49ers good reason to cut Malcolm Smith? Another Niner who’s job could be in jeopardy is Garrett Celek. San Francisco has one of the best tight ends in the entire NFL in George Kittle, so Celek has very little room for error if he wants to make the team.
