2019 Heisman Trophy: Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa & Jonathan Taylor Lead Preseason Power Rankings
Episode 175
The Heisman Trophy has been a quarterback-heavy award, with five of the last six finalist playing QB. Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa enter the season as early favorites to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy, but can they stay on top? College Football Now hosts Tom Downey and James Yoder analyze the latest Heisman Trophy odds and rank their top 10 candidates to take home the award. The Clemson Tigers, led by true freshman QB Trevor Lawrence, took college football by storm, finishing last season with a perfect 15-0 record. Lawrence had 30 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions last year but he’ll have to avoid the sophomore slump if he wants to win the 2019 Heisman. And don’t overlook Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa who is tied with Lawrence at +250 to win this coveted award. Is it Tua and Trevor vs. Everybody? Or is there a dark horse? Here is a full break-down off the Heisman Trophy Odds: Tua Tagovailoa: +250 Trevor Lawrence: + 250 Justin Fields: +600 Jalen Hurts: +650 Jonathan Taylor: +800 Adrian Martinez: +800 Tee Higgins: +1,000 Jake Fromm: +1,200 D’Andre Swift: +1,400 Justin Herbert: +1,500 One sleeper pick to win the Heisman is Jerry Jeudy, wide receiver from Alabama. Jeudy impressed last season 68 receptions for 1,315 yards and 14 touchdowns but does he have what it takes to climb the ranks? And what about Texas QB Sam Ehlinger? Ehlinger showed productivity in the air and on the ground, rushing for 482 yards and 41 total touchdowns. Could he prove once and for all the Texas is, in fact, back? Our Heisman Trophy Power Rankings can be found below: #1. Trevor Lawrence- QB, Clemson #2. Tua Tagovailoa- QB, Alabama #3. Jonathan Taylor- RB, Wisconsin #4. Jake Fromm- QB, UGA #5.
