FSU Football Coach Candidates: Top 7 Willie Taggart Replacements For Next Florida State Head Coach
Episode 189
The Florida State Football coaching search continues to drag on, as FSU has not yet found it’s Wille Taggart Replacement. FSU could make a hire within in the next week, so let’s update the Florida State head coach candidates list. We’ve got the top FSU targets left and some realistic options for the next FSU head coach. FSU targeted big names like James Franklin, Brian Kelly, Bob Stoops, Matt Campbell and PJ Fleck. But are any of those candidates in the mix, since the FSU job doesn’t appear to be attracting the biggest of names? Speaking of aStoops, what about Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops as an option? In FSU misses on all of it’s targets, there are two who would jump at the job: Interim HC Odell Haggins and former FSU player Deion Sanders. But would either of those be good hires? Proven coaches should be high on FSU’s head coach candidate list and there are several who make sense. Mike Norvell might be the favorite right now, especially with the timing of the hire. And what about Lane Kiffin, who has done well at FAU? Here’s the full Top 7 Candidates for FSU HC List: #7 James Franklin (HC, Penn State) #6 Deion Sanders (FSU Alum) #5 Lane Kiffin (HC, FAU) #4 Brian Kelly (HC, Notre Dame) #3 Odell Haggins (Interim HC, FSU) #2 Mark Stoops (HC, Kentucky) #1 Mike Norvell (HC, Memphis) Taggart’s firing won’t be cheap: It will cost about $17 million, plus money owed to assistant coaches will be fired once the next head coach is hired. Taggart struggled in less than 2 years, showing no signs of growth, forcing an expensive change.
